Morfa Bay 2022

Hooray! Morfa Bay residential is happening this year!

Monday 13th June 2022

The children boarded the coach and were royally waved off by parents, carers and siblings!

1st Update from Mrs Scully - 12.10 p.m. They have arrived safely - Let the adventure begin!

Evening Update:

Today saw us jump straight into activities, some children braved the assault course whilst others sped off road around the mountain bike track. We even managed to see some excellent impressions of Robin Hood on the archery, with the children scoring some impressive points!

After a hearty dinner, where all children ate their fill, we set off for a clifftop hike. The children took in some great views and appreciated the fresh sea air...however... they were much less appreciative of the steps and paths up to the cliff top. It was chorus of moans regarding sore legs and achy feet, such sweet music and we had only been walking 10 minutes...downhill. On a serious note the children all agreed it was a great walk and a nice way to pass the evening.

Before bed we held our customary nightly raffle whilst sipping hot chocolate. During this time, the children are each asked to nominate one person from the day to receive a raffle ticket which will be entered into a prize draw held during the bus journey home. Their nominee should be chosen on the basis of someone who has stood out to them that day. There could be a variety of reasons for nominating, maybe the individual was supportive or encouraging of others, perhaps they overcame their own fears or maybe they were just a good friend. The children, as always, were very reflective and their explanations very warming.

So the children are finally all tucked up in bed and beyond the usual giggles, torch flashing and occasional unexplained noise, they were really good and settled well. Morfa Bay, day one complete, over and out!

Morning Update:

Well, not a bad first night at all. First nights are often measured by what time we (the adults) get to sleep and last night was an 11.30pm kind of night - Happy days! The children were up at the crack of dawn, the boys were already playing 'Tig' in their dorm at 7.00am! This morning after breakfast we will be assault coursing for the final group, caving, high ropes orienteering and much more. The children are eagerly awaiting this afternoons sea activities on what promises to be a warm and pleasant day!

Watch this space of more photos and a Tuesday update!
