A great day out!
A great day out!

Our Year 5 and Year 6 children went on a grand day out to Oxford.

They were lucky  to secure a booking with the Story Museum in Oxford to take part in a writing workshop called ‘Curious creatures’. During their time there, the children  ‘explored the many different roles animals play in stories, from kindly critters to brutish beasts.’ They  ‘discovered the techniques used by authors in the exhibition’ and used these to create their very own animal characters, returning to Colebrook with a whole story plan for their writing.

In addition to the visit to the Story Museum,  the children went on a brief walking tour through the city’s famous university centre and spent time at the Museum of Natural History where they  supplemented their curiosity about creatures by looking at the incredible collections of current and past animal life.

Exploring the Story Museum...

They had a great time dressing up, exploring the room sets that linked to well known stories and came back to school inspired and motivated.
