Monday

What a start to our trip!

We had a great journey to Morfa Bay, the children were brilliant on the coach and fairly quiet! We had some sleepers, some readers and some sweet eaters, but we all made it safely and in good time.

Everyone went to the Crow's nest to have lunch and a welcome chat before getting straight into our first activities of the trip.

Miss Jenkins' group started with the High Ropes and wow, we've got some speedy children! Everyone did so well and pushed themselves to go higher on each climb. Some children did their second climb blindfolded! They finished by climbing up to the top of the ladders in the bottom section and having to grab the tea towel from behind their partners back which was very entertaining for the rest of the group.

Mrs Anderson's group had mountain biking as their first activity. They started by practicing their skills in the field first, before moving on to the two courses. They escaped with no injuries and everyone smashed it!

Mrs McIntyre and Miss Kearney's group went to Bushcraft, which is Morfa Bay's answer to Forest School. The children had a refresher on how to make a fire, and how to build a sustainable shelter. They were shown how to filter water using natural resources around them before making bread on an open fire with only water and flour.

I think you will see for yourself why we choose to return to Morfa Bay each year... We had a great walk this evening, with not too much complaining from the children (or staff!)

We reached the top of the coastal path and were met with stunning views, which the children said were definitely worth the climb.

Following our walk, we all met for hot chocolate and sat down for a chance to reflect on our day. Each year we hold a raffle; the children nominate one person each day who they feel has achieved something in particular or has been supportive to them that day. The names are popped into a bag and we will draw the raffle on the coach trip home, with prizes available for the children.
