Morfa Bay Day 3

Wednesday 22nd June 2016

Day 3 Wednesday

Today saw the onslaught of the Assault course! Yes the assault course is about wading through muddy water up to your chin, yes it’s about screaming at the top of your voice, some may even argue that it’s all about laying down and creating mud angels. However, what we saw were children who worked incredibly well together, supporting each other with words of encouragement and really demonstrating what the ‘T’ stands for in Colebrook STAR.

Caving proved to be more of a challenging experience today for the groups involved. At one point there were fears of a flash flood brought on by the sheer number of tears shed by our children. Fear not though, they soon regained their composure and all children were able to conquer two chambers, with the vast majority reaching the third chamber.

The rocky shore study was loved again and has proven to be a firm favourite. However the children’s hunting prowess was somewhat lacking and they weren’t quite recognising that jumping in the rock pools feet first and splashing their way across them may have had something to do with their lack of catch.

The zip line was eventful… all children completed the task, with some taking their time and building up to the event (In one instance this took half an hour! Mr B-H to the rescue). However in the cases when the children were  finding it difficult, the whole group rallied together and many hugs and applause given.

During the evening we had a fantastic trek down to the beach and the children all enjoyed an ice cream. With many children opting for the double cone option, knowing that it would give them the energy to get back up the hill on the way home.

Lights out went well, the children are all shattered and were asleep pretty quickly.

Morning Update:

The children all slept well last night and there are a number of tired faces this morning. They are slowly emerging from their dorms. I'm sure after a hearty breakfast they will all be refreshed, recharged and ready to start another full day of activities... well maybe...

The weather is warm and sunny already, perfect conditions for those children who will be having sea activities this morning.
