Morfa Bay Day 4

Today we bring you a caving special. In celebration of today’s caving group success we felt that we wanted to share the fun we have had with you. So take a close look at the pictures above and feel free to enter the Colebrook ‘Can you spot your child competition?’ We propose a chocolate bar prize to all winners who are able to spot their child in the deep, dark Morfa Bay caves. All entries to the school office please.

The children enjoyed another action packed day full of orienteering fun, sea activities, bush craft, mountain biking and another amazing high ropes session. The children were buzzing. However I must say that the talk of the day has been wholly devoted to tonight’s disco. Any downtime the children have had has been spent huddled in groups discussing what will be worn, who’s going with who and what music is likely to be played.

Evening Update:

On a that note, where am I? The air is thick with a range of deodorant, perfume and aftershave, the noise is close to breaking the sound barrier and there is a tangle of arms and legs waving before me… of course… it’s The Morfa Bay Disco…

So, the disco began at 7.30pm, needless to say, the Colebrook Party Crew were already strutting around in their best disco clothes at 6pm. I am sat here now watching Colebrook dominate the front of the dancefloor, we have had street dance, arms linked swaying, a great many versions of the robot, electrical pulses sent through arms and much more that I don’t even know the names of. Did I mention we are only on the third song? Colebrook do love to party.

Let’s hope that it tires them out and that after all of the excitement they are able to settle and sleep well.

Tomorrow is the final room inspection and it’s a close race at the moment. I have been completely taken by surprise. The children have worked really hard to keep their dorms incredibly tidy all week! I will hand on heart say they are the tidiest dorms I have ever seen.

It has been a truly wonderful week, as always the children have done us proud and this is reflected in the numerous positive comments from the centre staff. Tomorrow morning will see us pack up, clear out rooms, gather wet and smelly clothes ( a gift for you ) and attend the presentation assembly where winners will be announced for Top Boy, Top Girl, Best Archer, Fastest Assault course time and fastest orienteering time. Let’s hope Colebrook bring home a prize.

This is a tired but still smiling Morfa Bay signing out. We will update you in the morning.

Morfa Bay Quote of the Day:

Whilst attempting to get into a wetsuit, ready for sea activities, one Colebrook boy was overheard saying:

“I’m sure they make these things with just one leg!”

Before promptly falling over.

Morning Update:

The disco finished with Colebrook still bopping away to the final song. The children really enjoyed themselves, there were a few pockets of tears towards the end as the children realised it was their last night here and dare I say their last big event before moving on to secondary. Alternatively it could have just been the fatigue kicking in.

All of the children slept soundly last night and although they have had a super time, I know they are also looking forward to coming home and seeing their families. Final room inspections were conducted and the children have done a phenomenal job. The scores out of a possible total of 34 points are as follows:

 Corran: 29 (Winners)

Gronw: 27

Taf: 28.5

Cothi/Teifi/ Tywn: 27

Your children will be able to tell you what dorm they were in.

Of the three possible prizes in the inter school competitions...wait for it... drum roll... Colebrook won 2!

We won the fastest assault course time at 25 minutes ( the course average is 32-35 minutes) We also won the archery with a score of 80 out of a possible 90 points.

A top boy and a top girls were chosen, we will let you know who on our return.

The time is 10.55, the coach is being packed, last minute shopping is underway and the children are looking exhausted. All in all a successful week. See you all soon.

This is Morfa Bay signing out for another year!
