Morfa Bay Day 2

Tuesday 21st June 2016

The weather today was excellent. We have been lucky to see the sun shine through all day. (Careful Mr M let’s not tempt fate!)

Many of the children had their first experience of caving today and all were incredibly brave. One or two were nervous throughout but persevered and got through the experience. Mud covered faces emerged with brilliant smiles.

The high ropes was much more successful today with many children reaching the highest beams where they proceeded to dance the cancan, sing songs and even perform karate kicks! The Colebrook climbing prowess was replicated on the climbing wall and nearly all of the children flew down the zip line also. We have to praise Miss Scipione who braved the heights also. It was noted that the children heard her say to the instructors “Just push me or I won’t do it.”

Rocky shore studies were another success, the children caught and named a number of crabs and were sad to say goodbye when it was time to release them.

The children enjoyed a competitive round of archery and true Colebrook competitiveness bubbled to the surface. Great fun was had by all.

The children are all making the most of meal times and the Morfa Bay kitchen has been working hard to satisfy them all. Tonight they enjoyed a delicious home cooked curry with rice. Those who were not tempted by the curry had a hearty meal of ham salad and chips!

Needless to say we will be burning off the meal tonight with another hike down to Morfa Bachan, ‘the pebbly beach’ as the children refer to it. Let’s hope that two treks in a row will work their magic and tonight will be a peaceful night.

Morfa Bay Quote of the Day

One Colebrook boy to another:

Boy 1: "What time did you get up?"

Boy 2: "When the alarm went off at 6:30"

Boy 1: "I didn't know we had an alarm in the dorm."

Boy 2: "By alarm, I mean the pair of pants that hit me in the face at 6:30!"

Boys will be boys!

Morning Update

Well I spoke to spoon! This morning is very damp. The Welsh mist has rolled in bringing with it a fine drizzle that just doesn't seem to want to go away. The children settled quite quickly last night, clearly fatigue is starting to set in. The boys settled much faster than the girls (who were chatty). Room inspection has been quite a competitive affair so far, so we look forward to seeing what's in store this morning. I have to say that so far the rooms have been the tidiest I have ever seen!
